Cardiff Bay’s impressive waterfront will once again be a food lover’s paradise when the Welsh capital holds its annual International Food & Drink Festival (Friday 11th – Sunday 13th July 2008).
There will also be entertainment and master classes each day hosted by a number of Cardiff chefs.
Many of the companies taking part are True Taste Wales Food and Drink Award winners, and everything from cakes, seafood and liqueurs to chocolate, cheese and meat will be available to try and buy.
The Welsh Assembly Government supported three-day festival will feature a Food Piazza – a seated area with stalls serving tempting dishes; a Producers Fayre featuring over 50 food and drink companies (see below); a Demonstration Area where children can learn more about cooking with local ingredients; and a Farmers’ Market selling organic Welsh produce.
Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the waterfront event which this year has been extended to include the nearby Norwegian Church Arts Centre – where Mario’s Ice Cream will be hosting workshops and a Welsh gourmet banquet will be held – and Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre which will be the venue for wine tasting sessions.
The annual event, which has been organised by Cardiff Council and the Cardiff Harbour Authority, is part of the city’s summer long Festival of art, music and food, which this year also features the National Eisteddfod (August 2-9).
